Art is the one dimension where I can overcome my corporeal and mental existence.
My pictures can be transferred, via email, into the heart of the viewer, without both the sender and the receiver being online at the same time. To me, art has become the perfect medium for communication, free from the boundaries of language. In my art, I live this universal freedom. My life in China has added to my being, through experiencing China’s culture, increasing my perception and simplifying my self-expression. The moment my German nationality (in terms of European art history) encountered Chinese open-heartedness and millennia-old traditional art forms was the birth of a process I would like to call the ‘globalisation of hearts’.
In Beijing I have become a ‘citizen of the world’. This is a way into a new millennium of peace and understanding. In a time of faster and faster communications, I have found a way to communicate even faster: through art. Look at a painting, and my thoughts, emotions, experiences and knowledge are transferred into your being, and your heart. I feel that artists should be on the internet, at the peak of technology. We are the creative ones, the ones that cross all borders; and sometimes the crazy ones.
My name means ‘bluebell’. When someone asked me some years ago what I imagined when I spoke the word, I imagined this flower. I saw this little, blue bell-shaped flower in a field, from spring to autumn, hardy enough to grow in poor soil, and yet so fragile. With everything I paint I aim at people who are in search of new dimensions – new dimensions for communication in their lives.
