There is a gathering of artists here. For many years, they have never given up exploration and pursuit of artistic language. And with some restraint, they advocate their artistic ideas. What they most frequently think about is the question of language, because for them everything else is empty if the question of language is not resolved. This means that language needs to come before ideas. Without language, ideas cannot be expressed. How do people know what you try to say? So for a real artist, the question of language is primary. Language is the essence. Without the essence, art cannot be art.
We are all returning to the essence of art, widening the distance among us. Or as the art group, it is characteristic of the distance among us. It is not a good thing to be too close artistically. From a distance, one can see and sound more clearly. Isn’t it more interesting to see each other from a distance? Yet distance has limits, which also determines the limits of art.
Therefore we have organized this “Distance” exhibition to pay respects to our viewers. October, 2008, Beijing.
